Now in addition to iOS, you can write Android apps using C#. Thanks to the Mono Project, C# now has almost as much platform support as HTML.

You don't even need to know C#, Java or any programming language to make your own Android Apps. Google has humanized general purpose software development for mobile devices .

@Setag_Yrneh: I wouldn't go as far as to say app inventor humanizes anything, much less development. Does it provide some amount of amusement? Sure. Can visual languages compete with other domain specific languages? Certainly. Should visual languages be used for general application development? I'm not convinced.
In order to create a visual language expressive enough to do most things, you have to make it rather unwieldy. With text based languages, you can hide a lot of the constructs by not using them. This is much more challenging to do visually.

@Bass: This is really promising. They even c-shapified the android namespaces! Google really did a poor job organizing their libraries, there is crap everywhere. It's like the result of some sort of coffee enema.

@JoshRoss: That's a disturbing image.

You don't like the organization of the packages. We get it. You don't need to liken it to Googlers getting hot coffee blasted up their @sses. It's disrespectful. If you've ever talked to them you'd know that they're very nice people and excellent coders.

@Setag_Yrneh: Why so tense? Try Sanka Brand Decaffeinated Enema and relax

-
@Setag_Yrneh: Coffee enemas have been around for years.

Don't see what's to get offended about. For all we know, it could be the secret behind Google's success.
As the last chap said, calm yourself. Head to the kitchen and brew yourself a large one ...

... to drink, obviously.
But, whatever...

Have you come across a language called Fantom?
-
@Ray7: Nope, but I just read about it. Looks pretty interesting.
