In some sense, given the way the thread started (a la calling a president at Microsoft names), it should have been locked sooner, but the topic is fair game and I decided to add a verbal caution/reminder versus locking and banning. That said, it makes much more sense to engage the Windows team on the b8 blog (where the original post lives). The Windows folks spend a lot of time reading comments there (as opposed to on C9), so you're Windows feedback is better served there...

For C9, and all forums, respect is paramount. We encourage open, friendly, constructive discourse here - just like we always have.

For specific Windows 8 feedback, the b8 blog or Windows MSDN forums are the right places. You'll get your feedback read by Windows team members who are tasked with monitoring such places.

I think that's part of the problem -- this isn't at all like Slashdot or other tech forums where there are so many accounts that everyone is effectively anonymous.  The Coffeehouse has a smaller, more tightly knit community feel to it, so when someone flames another user it has a far larger impact.
