I'd rather see a set of films set in one of the galactic wars a few thousand years prior.  Would give the writers a lot more freedom, and perhaps capture what "star wars" is supposed to be about.

Hint: not about a lame orchestrated rebellion by people with rubber faces and later, a puny rebellion that should have been wiped out.

But then I suppose if they do a decent job with the story, go into how the empire/republic is falling apart at the end of Episode 6 they can write in some lame minor factional struggles and have some old people involved somehow. Tongue Out

More like buying competition, screw it up, dump it, no more competition kind of tactics. I would consider watching KOTOR kind of movie. This movie is just another Indie 4 or Die Hard 4. Trying to downplay old hero with the new. But, it is futile when those movie are about old heros. New guys, get your own movie, like Lara and etc.

Just before the Death Star was blown up. Even the Sith would struggle to survive both those things. Which is a shame because Ian McDiarmid was one of the greatest things about episodes 1-3 and number 6. Would we be happy if he'd cloned himself. Would seem like a cop out to me.

Yeah. I read that one. Never enjoyed it. Always thought that the Clone Emperor storyline and Luke's flirt with the dark side kind of pissed over the actions and sacrifices of 'Return of the Jedi'.

I prefer the Tim Zahn and Mike Stackpole takes on post Jedi stories.

like say the grand children or great grand children of Luke / Leia / Han  start on a new quest / adventure and get some help -- kind of how Obi Wan did with luke.

that would keep the story growing and not lock it into a time to close to the others ....and let them bring in new actors and new stories.

It'll be great! Episode VII will be told partly in flashback format aka God Father II... Han Solo will die of old age in the middle of an orange orchard while playing with Luke's son.
