wow! This doesn't bode well for the phone if devs aren't talking about it

What is there to talk about that hasn't been talked about already?

Apple does releases based off of hype. It doesn't take a lot to convince a zealot to upgrade. Microsoft will gain market share slow and steady (the way it should be) and not just in one burst. Not everyone wants to (or can) upgrade on the day it releases. Most people wait until their current contracts run out. There are also a lot of people that are waiting for more hardware options on more carriers. 1 day does not equate to doom and gloom.
With that being said...
I picked up my Samsung Focus yesterday and love it.

@Minh: There are ads all over TV. Or did you mean the lack of threads here?
-
@Bas: Lack of selection in the US. You basically have 2: ATT Focus & TMo HD7... The selection sucks
-
@JeremyJ: I'm close to getting the Focus too
-
@spivonious: Lack of thread here. Aren't any devs here getting a WP7?
-
What if they did? What would they talk about? Having the device changes nothing about the development experience.

That's an understatement! There is some seriously blatant product placement going on.

@JeremyJ: I will be getting a Focus as well. I tested a prototype and really liked it!

maybe we could talk about the high volume of complaints in the app hub registration forum and those frustrated developers who want to publish apps and help microsoft to win the market but can not do it ? (especially those students registered from DreamSpark, with sparkles extinguished in app hub)
http://forums.create.msdn.com/forums/88.aspx
actually I am just observing these around in app hub, since WP7 in not available in my country so app hub is not open for me to register, but maybe this situation itself begs aother question: why ?
this guy has the same problem

One thing that isn't mentioned much but is part of the reason why I picked the Focus is because it has a MicroSD port. I took my 16 GB MicroSD from my Droid and erased it and stuck it in the Focus and it worked like a champ. I hear people are having some issues with some MicroSD cards but it worked great for me. I now have 24 GB instead of the stock 8.
The other reasons why I got it are the fact that it is the thinnest WP7 phone out so far and the Super AMOLED screen is amazing. It is light, so carrying it around in my pocket is much nicer than the 10 pound brick that was the Droid.

Twitter was non-stop talk about the launch yesterday, and it's probably a better indicator than C9 is. Especially since C9 has had a lot of WP7 talk for months leading up to yesterday. Not a lot more to say here.
Also, I heard that several stores were sold out within the first half hour, so again, lack of talk here isn't much of an indicator.
Me, I'll be getting the Focus, but I don't know when. Too much is happening right at this moment. Might find time tomorrow, might be a couple of months.

@felix9: I registered 10 days ago, still waiting on geotrust to approve me. The thing is this all seems a bit over kill to me as all I want to do is download my app to my phone. If I wanted to publish an app in the Market place I wouldn't mind the wait.

Dell Venue Pro is the nicest one I've seen but it's T-Mobile only I think and not in Canada. Will need to find it through a reseller or something.
-
Just picked up my HD7 today, at a Wal-Mart that serviced T-Mobile. If I hadn't asked specifically for it, would have never known it was there. The key to Windows Phone's success is going to be in how well they can get the salespeople at the outlets to sell them.
So far, the device is great and despite the "negative" reviews about the screen and camera, I love it. Except one thing.
It appears that T-Mobile/HTC has changed the Bing search engine in Internet Explorer to Google.
Is there anyway I can get an update to fix that?
-
I don't really get the fanboyism (even here) around this release. The phone OS lacks in many notable areas. This is all that Microsoft can come up with in three+ years of development? Really? Is everyone suppose to ignore that?
-
I'm waiting on the Venue Pro which should be a few days I guess.
