How does it work? Like, can I download Hawaii map in CA before I travel there? And does it do hybrid approach? Like still use data plan to get traffic, direction calc, satellite image, more detailed street map? Like is it possible to get base offline data, and nicer building/park images will be added using data plan? And does it offer some basic direction calc on my phone offline?

I'm assuming it works just like Nokia Maps works now. It's just the street maps that get downloaded to the phone. I did this on a Lumia 800 a wile ago and the street maps of my area where only 22MB or something like that.

@magicalclick: It should work like the Nokia Maps do now. It downloads the tiles and street data locally. Then you can do directions and things based off of the locally saved data. You can choose the locations you want to download or pick all of them. Things like traffic use real-time data so that wouldn't be local because it would be out of date in a matter of minutes.
