@JoshRoss: while raid != backup, a space would offer a fast and reliable mean to backup, assuming that is where you store the copies, not the original files themselves.

What gets me very excited about this, is that it looks like a very easy way to add fast and reliable storage space not only to personal computers, but also to servers in small and large offices (my understanging is that performance and speed wise it will perform similarly to RAID 10).

The only caveat is that this will work for direct attached storage: if I want to use a Space for backup purposes, ideally I would want to connect the Space to a remote computer which in turn is connected to my local network over a VPN. Still too complicated and probably slow for small office setups.
