I setup my Gmail acct on the phone and when I delete an e-mail it's NOT really deleted on Gmail... OK... a bit lame but I guess I can live w/ that.
Then I found out that I can create a calendar appt on the phone and it get put on Google Calendar, then I thought... WTF... Am I supposed to be able to delete Gmail emails on my phone after all? Or is something not set up correctly on my phone?
Just tested it, it looks like mails you deleted on the phone will eventually get deleted in Gmail, but not necessarily right away. If you manually sync and then reload Gmail it should be gone.

I am guess it is using POP3, so, check pop3 settings.

Weird thing about email... after synching the deleted emails are indeed gone from the "Inbox" view... but w/ Gmail, you can apply tags to an e-mail... in the tag view, they are still there... really weird

You can choose to sync other Gmail folders too besides the inbox. Open Gmail on the phone and click the little folder icon at the bottom. Either select the folder in question from the list or click "show all folders" if you don't see it in the list. I'm not sure but that might fix the problem.

Sounds like MS are doing a BETTER job running gmail on WP7 than Google have done running Hotmail on Android (it is very slow on my Galaxy Tab)

@Cara9, thank you. That was it. I needed to be working out of the "All Mail" folder... but "Inbox" just wanted to be the default. Oh well... it's better than going into Gmail later to delete I guess
