The Charms Bar slides right under the mouse pointer with the "Settings" button directly underneath. It takes a little practice to remember exactly how far up from the bottom the screen the Settings button is oriented, but this "dipping" motion is easy to do since you don't have to click to invoke the Charms Bar. It's almost like a gesture.

The "shortcut" I think is most important to know for the charms is that you don't really have to "hover" in the corner and wait for them to appear before moving up/down to the one you want. It works much better if instead you "swoop around the corner" in one continuous motion. This is not only faster, but also feels nicer and is more reliable because the momentum from moving to the corner will continue and prevent you from falling out of the edge.

They need to make it wider. The taskbar on the left isn't so bad. I'm sure that differs of you're left or right handed. For right handed granny with arthritis it's going to be a challenge to swoop.
