So someone tweeted that headline and I thought it should be the tag line for the Surface.  I'm looking forward to seeing what other manufacturers can do in this space ...

What I'm reading from the article is: I'm an apple fan, Microsoft is on the brink, we all need it to stay alive, go Microsoft go, praying....

My take on the article: he talks admiringly about the kickstand??

It struck me as quite realistic. It's great hardware, great software and a great product. But that alone isn't enough for it to succeed - there are enough Microsoft products that have fallen foul to bad business decisions, marketing or branding.

The question is will the Surface be a Zune or an xBox? The answer is: only time will tell.

Cook seems to be a level-headed sort of a bloke (he reminds me of my favourite uncle), so I suspect he will stick to the strategy. There's no point making any changes until the Surface is actually released and people have actually seen it. Even then, Apple will most probably spend a few months watching market reaction to it. 

@Ray7: That's ridiculous. Doesn't Cook know that proper management requires spastically lurching in a different strategic direction every time something new and totally unproven gets hyped by the press?!?
