What's contradictory about the two statements?

He starts off with the premise that he needs to do a long test, using Windows8 as his sole machine in order to give it a fair review.

He then later says that he gave up after 30 minutes.

Based on his previous assertion, that means he didn't give it a fair review.

It feels more like a "I was going to give Windows8 a fair review, but then I realized I'd get more hits on my blog if I just did a funny YouTube video saying that it sucked, and I can do that without even bothering to properly try it."
