Nothing to reconcile.

Based on his previous assertion, that means he didn't give it a fair review.

It feels more like a "I was going to give Windows8 a fair review, but then I realized I'd get more hits on my blog if I just did a funny YouTube video saying that it sucked, and I can do that without even bothering to properly try it."

He obviously spent a long time trying to get Windows 8 just to the point where he could use it day to day.

I think you are missing the point of the whole video: He wanted to get Win8 to a point where he could use it day-to-day for a month, but encountered so many issues that he never got to that point.

While he is very hyped in the video, he makes some very sound points, especially with control, conveyance, continuity, and context. Windows 8 is a big step backwards in each of these four areas for desktop and laptop users, which represents the vast majority of the world.

I was so hard just to do basic things that he gave up and if he has that much trouble then what hope does the average user have?

It would be interesting if he made another video now that's he's learned more about Win8 and probably has been told by other people how to close ModernUI apps etc.

It still doesn't mean that his point about the usability of Win8 on a laptop/desktop aren't valid though. I feel just like he does when it comes to that subject.
