It just feels wrong to me when Sherlock Holmes isn't Basil Rathbone
The Basil Rathbone films were the first to move away from the classical Victorian era settings and "re-imagine" the stories. The BBC series that has proven popular today, is a direct result of this departure from the exact interpretation that Jeremy Brett classically delivered.
Personally, I like them a lot, and still watch them all, with "The Murder Rooms" ranking very highly as well.
I won't however be watching the Lucy Lui ones, it's hard to keep abreast of how she could become Watson.
