Coffeehouse - There is a new Sherlock in town ...

Why?

I haven't seen the BBC series, but I'd find it a lot more interesting a prospect to watch it if it were set in the 1800s, and not with action versions of the characters like in the movies. It would give the show some dimension. I'm not that interested in watching generic detective series.

It's not at all an "action versions of the characters". The characters are still very much the characters you know, but they are placed in a modern era, with an interesting take on what that change would mean. It's not "cheap Hollywood movie making" but rather an insightful literary exploration shown on screen.
