UDP demo..​ugh...HELP!!​!!!!!

alright.. I need help!!!!

The UDP demo for windows phone:

I am copy / pasting the code..where I think I am supposed to put it..

But of course I have like 18 f****ing errors....because the tutorial, does not specifially say, exactly where to put the code...

Oh it may say, to put at the top of the xaml page, or cs page..but....top to me means above all other code...OR if they mean to put it under the namespace, or under the last curly brace..then why cant MS say this???

Its just one or two more lines for clarity for a new person who would like to code for the goddamn phone...

Okay It says to put the code at the top...

But should it not be inside some curly braces?? I mean..the top is where all the using statements are...

just want to get one demo app working...just one.

OK, step one, breathe easy.

Step 2: paste the code at the "top" means at the top of the class, which is inside the curly braces that encompass the class definition. From your frustration it would seem that you haven't done any C# before because I looked at the demo code and it was instantly clear what to do.

Step 3: in the future something like this more appropriately would go under the "Tech Off" forum rather than Coffeehouse... or perhaps more directly to a site geared toward coding assistance like Stack Overflow.

@chicago_mike:You can also look at the sample apps here for some clues. It's sole purpose is to test the performance of UDP in Mango but at least it's simple.

So I have calmed down from that tantrum..

Figured out where to paste the code..

My errors are now different.

5 errors..

Errors 1 thru 5 The type or namespace name 'SocketClient' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I did exactly what the text said, double checked, but..

Also, public SocketClient()    ( this is giving me the Must have a return type error )..

And oh yes oh yes.. I am new to C#. I am trying..just need to be more patient on my end. =)

I also checked all the using statements, that you add and change..still the socketclient error..

I am very interested in getting UDP for some apps I am working on..

Dentaku, You and I more or less want to do the same thing with UDP. WiFi MIDI basically.

Although, Kinect will replace much of this..think about being able to wiggle your fingers in mid air and your controlling ADSR parameters on Linplug vsts or whatever..

Alright......what it didnt tell me was to replace public class and just delete that...

Wow...I am so wet behind the ears..

People have been messing with Kinect MIDI for a while now.
Once there's an update to allow for closeup operation and individual finger control it could be interesting too.
The latency will always be an issue though, unlike on a phone where the latency should be negligible. (at least it is on an iPad when using wireless MIDI)
