Is there a release date for Visual Studio 2011 or 2012, whichever one will be coming out?

@plpauly: It is called VS11 for now, as being the 11th version of Visual Studio, has nothing to do with 2011 the year.
No release date is known yet, not even for a next preview/beta/rc. Will have to do with the build they released at //BUILD/ for now.

My best guess, but it is just a guess, will be spring next year (2nd qarter).
We're expecting SQL Server 2010, Visual Studio 2012 and Windows 8 all around then. We think Office 2012 will be later in the year, probably 3rd or 4th quarter.

you can watch those rumors about roadmap of Windows 8, because VS11 must be released before Windows 8 devices hit the market, or there wont be Metro apps in the store.

@felix9: Out of intreast, anyone know what's being used to write the device drivers for the ARM version?

Around 2pm GMT for the new Beta of VS2012 if it ties in with the Windows 8 Consumer Beta

not reallly .... as i recall i think they said the beta of VS 11 will be a "Go Live" if that's true then that's all you need to build and ship *IF* you are willing to use the Go Live bits.

my guess is that the ARM OEM's have an NDA with Microsoft and some tools for that....

No, Windows 8 will probably be out October 2012(this year) or so. You could thus assume that VS2012 would be out before then. Would be silly to have the development tools out before the OS, especially since you can't do Windows 8 apps using VS2010.

@Harlequin: Don't you mean "NOT to have development tools out before the OS"?

I think we'll see the final VS2012 ship with Windows 8 in October. Since the beta has a "go live" license, I doubt we'll see any API changes between then and October.
The success of Windows 8 heavily depends on the app store.

My best guess is around September 9th based on previous release cycles. See my blog post for more details: http://blog.johannesh.dk/2012/06/estimating-vs2012-rtm-release-date.html
