I'm digging the responsiveness of the IDE. The updates to the way it handles javascript are really nice, too.

Right on. The VS team did a lot of work on fundamentals (like responsiveness and performance). Glad you noticed ![]()

@Charles:I think the bug fixes in WPF are going to make pretty much everything that uses the technology much faster. Just wish there was a way to update pre .NET 4.5 versions and that the bug fixes had been made in the .NET 3.5 SP1 stage - they really should have identified, prioritised and fixed the issues then.
@vesuvius: coming to think of it, since WPF is now being touted as legacy, does that mean Visual Studio is now also a legacy application?
@vesuvius: It's not really "legacy" though, it's still the current technology for desktop applications. WinRT and Metro might be the preferred technology for a lot of things, but the class of application that really requires a complex multi-window UI, thus the desktop, should still favour WPF.

At least .NET 4 apps should benefit from the fixes, because as I understand it, .NET 4.5 is an in-place update for .NET 4.
Yeah VS11 cold starts in about 2-3 seconds on my laptop, with starting new instances taking no noticeable startup time at all. Admittedly my laptop is pretty badass.
@mawcc: You are correct.

Anyone know when VS11 is going to production? I am trying to decide if we should upgrade now to VS2010 or wait for 11. Google doesn't seem to be of help on a potential release date.

How would Google know about the release date for a product that Microsoft sells? ![]()
