Visual Studio 2011 for commercial application development

I just attended BUILD conference and got lots of good information on VS2011. There are lots of enhancements in it that are a compelling reason for me to use VS2011 for my new project. However it's  a developers preview so by license terms I cannot use it for commercial development.

Is there any program at Microsoft (any sort of partner program or something similar) whereby a tech company can use VS 2011 for their commercial development?

@brijeshm: I really wouldn't trust the new features to be stable in a commercial app.

Since you're developing commercial apps, be aware it doesn't allow you to target XP as a platform, so if you have any users still on XP you better start getting them to move off of it because your created vNext (11) app won't run on it.

Is that just with C++, or just with the preview? If so, it looks like I'll be on VS2010 for the next ten years. The IT department here just isn't interested in upgrading past XP.

It's with .NET 4.5 as well (try installing the .NET 4.5 installer on XP and it won't because the setup program itself is fully dependent on the new vNext static CRT which is of course dependent on some kernel32 Vista only functions).  As far as I know, It will be the same with RTM shipping version not just the developer preview. 

Well that's just dandy. The XP folks will be stuck at .NET 4 then for the next decade.... IT departments have zero interest in migration unless its their own systems of course. (Every IT shop I go to has shiny new Win 7 stuff all over their own desks, and the rest of the staff are languishing in trailing edge hardware and XP...

Ironically, Microsoft gets put through the wringer all the time for their overemphasis on backward compatibility with legacy software and their inability to ever start with a clean slate. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. I'm glad I don't have to run Microsoft.

@cbae:It also makes it a lot easier to see, if that is indeed the prevailing view in most organisations, why the Windows 8 focus would be primarily consumer focused.
