Sorry about the flood here guys, but I just came by once again to check if I was not dreaming.
This. Is. Real.
I truly saw everything the internet has to offer now. Thanks @Glucose for the tweet telling about this thread.

Is Cheevos short for Cheevoskamini Somakandarkram?
Things that can't compare to a cheevo:

For for these visual studio cheevos, when people put on their resume I have 67 Cheevos. What is the person looking at the resume going to think? Visual Studio Cheevos or Xbox Live cheevos. Now I have to put 2 lines on my resume
95,000 Xbox Live Cheevos/Gamerscore
67 Visual Studio Cheevos
If I saw a resume that listed video game or Visual Studio achievements on it, it would gain one more achievement. The circular file achievement.
I just can't use that word he is using. It's like pronouncing nuclear as "nucular", owning a 23 channel CB radio, or doing breakdancing anytime since 1982.

Oh, burn. He does that too: http://bboy360.com/Default.aspx
To those thinking gaming or gamerscore is pointless or a waste of time, what makes shooting a ball through a hoop like Lebron James or singing a song like Kanye West any better for society than being a pro gamer? I'm ahead of my time, but gamerscore will be very important in 20 years or so, that's why it's very important not to screw up the roots of this infrastructure.

They earn a lot more than you do. I'd also bet that their chat-up lines don't involve cheetos.
If this is a viral/parody thing, I'm very impressed with the level of effort put in. The videos on kickstarter are mindblowing.

All that does for me is trigger an automatic Dutch grammar * response: "it's spelled 'niveau', you fools!"
I can't help but wonder, what does the OP think of sites like Stack Overflow? You can earn reputation there and it's (*gasp*) not linked to Xbox Live. Do those inconsiderate fools somehow expect me to put both my gamer score and my Stack Overflow reputation on my resume?
And that's not even mentioning the other Stack Exchange sites... those reputation scores aren't even linked to each other, let alone Xbox Live! The sheer audacity of some people!
With this thread, I think I found the one thing on the internet to which rule 34 doesn't apply.
I think I'll put my gamer score in all my email from now on.

I smell another kickstarter!
@eddwo: I particularly like this comment: "Those guys probably have like no cheevos anyway so their opinion on visual studio/everything else is pretty irrelevant"
Yeah, because your gamer score is so relevant to one's expertise on Visual Studio...
@eddwo: Ah. Seems we have another person to go in the "Spectate Swamp" category ...
Herbie
It seems like the blub paradox / sapir-whorf hypothesis / dunning-kruger effect still gets in the way of communicating with a lot of people. We probably shouldn't laugh at him but a the same time it would be extremely time consuming to actually provide enough background knowledge/perspective to enable him to understand why we think his current world-view is severely warped. Chances are he wouldn't stick around long enough to understand or believe us anyway.
I suppose we all live in bubbles that we can't see to a certain extent. I wish there were an easier way of popping them sometimes. Something like the POV gun like in the Hitchhikers film would be good. Or to put it another way, "You don't need to collect more cheevos or myspace friends. You want to go home and rethink your life"
@blowdart: Exactly. XBox Live Achievements are "consumer" achievments. Visual Studio Achievements are "producer" achievements. Last time I checked "producers" created value and therefore a Visual Studio Achievement should convert to multiple XBox Live Achievements.
