Psy was already a big name musical artist. Whatever you think about his music, he's good at what he does.
Pauly D got on the Jersey Shore because of his MySpace page.
Who?
I've gotten some breakdancing gigs cus of my MySpace page.
Good for you. However, it has nothing to do with views or achievements or "friends". That's pure advertising.
How do people get high positions at tech companies? Cus they know people and can get investment money...
Nope.
It's all about being the alpha male in the group. The only way to become the alpha male is to impress people.
I can't say I know anybody who would be impressed by a gamer score. I guess it's a matter of what kind of crowd you want to be associated with.
Also, I recommend you watch this video.

Yes. Definitely commend Dan. Heck he is interested in developing his own apps for his own Windows phone.
and for the 1000s of other people that have installed it on their phone. Latest Stat is 2,198 downloads from 12/24/12 to 1/22/13. Oh and did I mention the Live tile on the WP8 version has pictures of me flashing back and forth between the logo.
More seriously a stackoverflow score might be ok on a resume.

No. Just no. People with high stackoverflow scores are because they spend their life on stack overflow instead of doing work.

I could use my entire collection of animated gifs here, and they would *all* work.
@Psychlist1972: If you have any that are a 1965 Chevy Impala with NOS (nitrous) that would be cool. "cheevos" seemed like a shortened version of chevy with nos way back at the beginning of this thread. Something with wheelie bars and fuzzy dice would be awesome.
There is a certain delivery of your stats that's involved with impressing people and picking up chicks
@Dan276 What happened with you and Nikki? Are you two not together anymore ![]()

I present Jon Skeet. Your argument is invalid.
Just to bring this thread back on track.
Where I worked one time the boss gave out achievements for exceptional work (I was often exceptional). If you earned enough you got to go on a date with his daughter. (She was fit and let me cop a feel one time).
Those were the days .

He's an author, a blogger and a stackoverflow 100k-er. What makes you think that he has time left in his day to do actual useful work for Google? He's basically just an evangelist for them, right?
