I've spoken to a few people that have Blackberries, they all have them because it's what their companies gave them, and they all said their companies were going to ditch their BB contracts when they're up for renewal (in a few months' time), chiefly because of the 3-day outage.

RIM's days are numbered.

RIM sold more blackberry units so far this year in the UK than Apple managed to shift IPhones, so I wouldn't write them off yet. True, blackberries have done really badly in the end-user market because they're not as shiny and they weren't personally invented by Steve Jobs, founder of free speech and inventor of goodwill to all men, but RIM have utterly dominated the smartphones for business market because blackberries are easier to integrate with existing business solutions.
