Why did WP7 duplicate my contact entry so many times?

I got a HTCTrophy Windows Phone about 2 months ago.  Love it.  But one thing I don't understand, is why it duplicated my contact entry so many times.  In my Hotmail account, which I used as one of my email accounts on the phone, I have only 1 entry for myself, with my email address.  However, there's something like 17 entries on my phone, all the same.

Huh?

How many times you have pressed "import SIM contacts"?

And how many accounts are in your People Hub?

And which radio button you selected along with the account management?

Basically take photos of everything in People Settings page and upload and show us.

@Doctor Who: If you don't mind me knowing your contacts, my idea is for you to email me you contacts list (find me via my blog), and I will write a little program to remove the duplicate entries.

Is this feasible?

@vesuvius: You could probably do the same thing in excel.

Also, if you log into live.com and go into the contacts area, there is a feature to delete duplicates. It can take a while, but it takes you through all of them and lets you decide what to do with potential duplicates.

That's what I'm seeing, too.  Thanks for letting me know that this isn't unique.  I do know that Microsoft gets this fixed.

I have logged into live.com, and checked my contacts there.  There is no duplication going on, there.

I have never pressed the "import SIM contacts". I've never owned a smartphone before.

I have 2 accounts in my People Hub.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you're asking, when you asked, "...which radio button you selected along with the account management?"

(Sorry, I have tried to upload a photo of my People Settings page to both Flickr and SkyDrive, and get just the damn photo to show up.  Instead, all Flickr and SkyDrive want to do is give me a URL to the page the photo sits on, not a URL to the photo!  Man, why is this so sticking hard???????  I wish I had my own website, then I could upload it to a server and do a simple insertion of that URL.)
