Just came across a interesting titbit about Wikileaks Supports ( or so called Hacktivists ) are using LOIC a tool developed in C# to flood the websites like MasterCard, paypal.
On the basis of that tool, versions of the tool in Java and other languages have also cropped up.
With general impression about hackers being linux buffs doing things with commandline and assemply tools and all ...its a surprise that the tool was created in a Managed language that too developed by MS ...

LOIC was something hacked together by the /b/tards and denizens of the chans, mostly aged between 15 to 23, a significant portion are computer science students, so developing something in C# just makes sense, especially as most systems have .NET on now.

... its the language and platform choice ... that surprised me ... its not even c/c++ .. its c# form application ...
though i read in other forums that now they have developed versions which can be centrally cotnrolled and triggered remotely ... anyway quite interesting ...

If that was designed by computer "science" students it's a pretty good indicate they're not paying any attention in class. No design patterns, poor threading, they don't even use masked text boxes, rather they attempt to convert to integers then throw up message boxes.

Even then script kiddies would generally know how to fake IPs, not LOIC, it just starts hammering away directly against the target. A few people are going to be shocked should Visa, Mastercard or anyone else decide to prosecute.

I tried to visit Mastercard.com a few times during the outage just to see for myself; what methods will they use to tell the difference between LOIC users and random visitors like myself? (would they just go after the source IPs of the top 100 most-seen addrs?)

Because you're not loading the same page over and over and over again every second?
Mind you faking IPs isn't doable for HTTP, because it's over TCP, and NAT gets in the way as most routers won't forward outgoing packets if the source IP isn't known to their internal network. Ditto for ISPs.
I'm not a fan of Wikileaks or of 4chan, but I agree it's interesting that C# was used for their DoS weapon. I would've expected python to be used. And 8 years ago I would've expected perl. lol

Does it have a nice GUI media rich using WPF? If not, I think they still need much improvement

LOLz, it is actually quite graphical. I approve the user friendliness. I so wish my security class is as user friendly. My class is so user unfriendly, I ended up droping the class out of poor poor lab experiments. Without GUI, I am a hopeless cripple.
