It only gets better. Will Windows 8 ever be able to compete with sandwiched Android? This EeePad Transformer Prime represents how Microsoft has some serious developement issues - both in the OS and application areas. Will we ever see something like Office 2010 Professional Plus on a Windows tablet that runs furiously fast and flawlessly?
I think we'll see two tablet markets appear: one with ARM for consumers and casual gamers/surfers to compete with iPad and Android tablets, and another one with x86 that will be targeted towards power users and businesses. The x86 one will already run Office. Need to touch up your presentation while commuting? Use touch + on-screen keyboard. Working at the office? Plug it into a docking station and use it like a normal desktop.
I do think we'll see a version of Office for the ARM tablets, but it won't be the full version that we know today. Maybe something more akin to the Office Web Apps.
