What is the source of this article? Hard to call it definitive until it comes from a Microsoft source.
PS - I strongly suspect no Start Menu and while I normally trust the BBC, the lack of source here, and the vague details make me wonder if they're just talking about the CP.
Of course they weren't going to reverse their decision -- remember "No Compromises"? ![]()
That Win8 RC will be in first week of June comes from Steve Sinofsky:
http://allthingsd.com/20120423/near-final-version-of-windows-8-due-in-early-june/
"The Windows 8 developer preview launched late last year and has prompted more than 100,000 changes." They were refering to the developer preview promting 100,000 in the consumer preview, not the release preview.
100,000 changes isn't necessarily all that much though. It all depends upon how significant each of those individual changes is. It will be interesting to see when it finally arrives though.
Brings up an interesting question with these 100,000-changes question...how big is Microsoft's QA team? I'll bet you the changes were something like 80,000 internal finds, 20,000 external finds.
Or 100 000 commits to the source control. ![]()

With each commit being alternating saves of whitespace being tabified and detabified.
Could be 100,000 pixels... which really, if you think about it, not all that many
@vesuvius: For a codebase of this size and with so many people submitting ideas/complaints/threats, I wouldn't have thought 100,000 changes would be that many.
