I'm running Windows 8 on a laptop, and I was wondering why I cannot drag the empty area around like on iOS. Is this a software patent problem or is someone just trying to think differently? Also, is this behavior different on a tablet?

I think that's one of the most heavily commented on issues. Hopefully it's just "fit and finish" work to do with mouse interaction as it works with touch.
