I've just had to rebuild my PC recently with brand new parts (long story) and I tried to copy my backup files over the network and nope not work. After a long saga (see below), I finally got it to work, but now it's slow, real slow. Searching the net and it appears there are many, many other people who are having the same problem, but not receiving any help though a lot of incorrect suggestions.

To me, networking is a fundamental feature of Windows that either must work well or have tools to track down and point to why. That lack of anything in this area just amazes me.
