I saw this WP roadmap yesterday and I'm wondering just exactly what a Superphone with Windows Phone would look like. What makes a phone worthy of the google marketing term SUPERphone?

Most likely a price of 400 to 600 USD model with better gaming capabilities. WP7 is already targets at low end market max 400 USD without contract, due to its aging HW requirements. So, the new one simply up the HW requirements, like duel core and stronger 3D acceleration, which is not far from superphone pricing.

Picking up on what others have said about Apollo being the son of Jupiter my guess is that superphones will be capable of running WinRT (as well as Silverlight) and therefore get the benefit of all the Windows 8 Apps that will be available in that timeframe. I am just starting to look at porting stuff from Windows Phone to WinRT for Windows 8 tablets etc and in my own head this seams like a logical technology progression given all that was said at BUILD last year (OK, earlier this year as I write this).

A superphone for me would be one that would wirelesly connect to an external monitor, keyboard or mouse to run all my desktop applications, not requiring any laptop or tablet anymore.

@PeterF:I think the BUILD laptops came with WIDI built in so that doesn't seem to be an unreasonable expectation for WP8.

I'd be happy with faster processors, MUCH more storage space, a front facing camera, more powerful 3D and video out support and VERY low latency audio (and something like iOS Core MIDI built into the OS of course because that's my kinda thing).
What you're talking about is beyond what I was imagining. It would also mean that the phone would probably support more than the default WP7 resolution too.16 hours ago, Ian2 wrote
