I experimented a bit, found you could hit Win+E to launch an explorer window, then CTRL+E to set focus on the search box.

Also there's an option, in Folder Options, to automatically place focus on the search box as soon as you start typing into the list view.  So with that turned on, you can just hit Win+E, then start typing to search.
