There is a new programming competition site out there called FinalBot (that I
am involved with) that some 9ers may be interested in. The first competition is
our implementation of Texas Hold'em Poker -- download the SDK, create your bot
in the .NET flavor of your choice, and submit it for automated tournaments.
Thanks to Corensic who is sponsoring and providing some prizes for this summer's
competition.
This competition is open to all experience levels (student, hobbyist,
professional) and there is a low barrier to entry (both difficulty level and
time commitment). For Hold'em, you only need to implement one method which
returns the number of chips that you wish to bet when it is your turn -- but to
be competitive you will have to do some more analysis and start to understand
your opponents behavior.
