Nice. The 2019 video coming to life. I wonder what their using to sync up the devices? WiFi and some custom software I suppose since that would be the lowest common denominator between the devices. The bit that devices manufacturers, et all have to improve on is the whole experience of having to switch WiFi on and other interrupts that makes this carefully planned out and executed video look so seemless. I'd love to walk around with WiFi and bluetooth turned on all day on my phone but the battery wouldn't last all day. It sounds like that isn't so much the focus for Microsoft when it looks like they are going the direction of a battery hungry Windows 8 crammed on a quad core phone instead of lightweight WP.

I'm really impressed with the rendering-animation and the envelope-sending-animation. It gives this app an air of a professional app. Kinda reminds me of the windows 95 file copy dialog. I realize that Silverlight allows for one man to create a big app as this, but they should have consulted a designer.
(this, BTW, means i watched it to the end, kudos for that)

Too bad this wasn't an open source project. I'm sure they could have found a designer willing to do it for free out of the goodness of his heart.

This:
means that you read this:
Update: One notable outcome of this project is that Microsoft and nsquare are going to be giving away the source code of the whole solution to universities (and others) for user experience education purposes.

No, I read "It will be open source". Thanks though, you troll accusing troll.

My question still stands:
Who says Microsoft hates open source?

@cbae:
Bill Gates's "Open Letter to Hobbyists" in 1976? The Halloween Documents? Steve Ballmer "Linux is a cancer" speech in 2001? Or some combination of above?
Microsoft has certainly got a lot better about open source and apologized for their past comments. But the past won't magically go away. The reputation and respect in the FOSS community is still very low.

Not directly related, but a cool talk about open source
