Game Development for Windows using Kinect

I am thinking of developing a small game using Kinect for Windows. Well my intension is to use gestures to play the game. I am a newbie to Kinect, so i need your suggestions in this regard. I have three games in mind likely Tetris, Snake, Flight control. Well you know the first two and third one i thought about a flight in motion is moving forward in midst of obstacles in its direction, so the gestures by hands should help the flight to glide and travel through. So I need you to suggest me which is the easy one of these to be implemented on kinect and in what programming language is it easy to implement. Reply asap.

But I'm sick of having to telephone Microsoft and enter 18 blocks of 8 digits into boxes that I'm just going to go grab an activation crack, slipstream it onto a DVD, and then install that way.

Why must I telephone? What is the point? Why does Microsoft think it is ok to treat paying customers this way?

Gabe Newell, the CEO of Valve/Steam said piracy is purely a service problem: pirates provide a better service than developers and honestly he isn't too far from the truth when Microsoft is concerned.

When Windows 8 rolls around there is no way I'll pay the extra for a retail licence compared to an OEM/Action Pack/Technet+ since Microsoft treats retail customers worse than any of the above. Or at least no better given how much more expensive it is...

Even Apple's horrible iTunes software treats me with more respect, allowing me to authorise without fuss and de-authorised previous installations at the click of a button.

I guess they must have thought the WP logo was a success so they embraced and extended its fuggliness to W8. I just wonder if the marketing companies and designers that Microsoft uses have some running joke to see who can get Microsoft to look the most foolish. Maybe for W9 they can go even further with a 8-bit design, nicely dithered.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-10805_3-57380397-75/microsofts-new-windows-8-logo-this-one-looks-like-a-window/?tag=txt;title

I guess I won't be changing my avitar anytime soom with moves like this. One thing I liked about VS 2010 over Eclipse was its sharp UI. Looks like they wanted a more "Eclipse" look this time around. Why not get rid of color syntax highlighting while you're at it Microsoft.
Office on the iPad; OH YEAH!

Now here's the smartest move Microsoft has made in a long time. When W8/WP8 gets no traction in stopping the bleed from PCs to iOS and Android devices at least they'll still own the office productivity market. Let's hope an Android version is right around the corner. (Edit: I guess not: "Additionally, it was revealed that an Android version of the platform was not being developed at this time." -- awww, that sucks but I guess it makes sense since Android tablets haven't taken off yet.) Overall, nice work Office team.

As an added benefit this puts some heat on the Windows team to have to stand on their own two [left] feet instead of relying on the Windows/Office lock-in to sell Windows for them.

Microsoft ends charade - "Home" users get full patch support

Woohoo, finally some common sense from Redmond after a long hiatus: "Home" versions of Vista and Win 7 (including über-expensive "ultimate" editions) will get the same support as the business versions.

http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1059116-microsoft-extends-support-for-windows-vista-until-2017/page__pid__594668366#entry594668366

This article talks about Vista, but Win 7 Home is extended too:

http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-us&p1=14484&x=13&y=5

Finally. I've said it already that this policy made no sense whatsoever. It was sort of ok when the consumer and professional versions were separate (9x/NT), but with the unification that came with XP, this policy is completely senseless. Patches for XP/Vista/7 Pro work the same way on the home versions too. The only way to enforce this police would have been blocking Home users from Windows Update or just not shipping patches to home versions, despite the patches being already made, since they would be still available for Pro. Not to mention the fact that ultimates cost more than business versions and would get the shaft anyway. The PR shitstorm for such a system would be catastrophic.

Finally a sensible decision from MS - signs and wonders.

Given this trend, maybe Metro could be made usuable for something other than fart apps and twitter cliens as well in the near future?!

Tango: The dance Microsoft needs to get right

More bad news for WP http://www.neowin.net/news/ouch-bada-os-market-share-larger-than-windows-phone

Even lowly Bada is beating WP. Now this isn't a completely fair comparison since Bada is sold in markets WP doesn't reach yet but once Tango is out these numbers will matter more as it's my understanding that Tango is meant primarily to expand WP to these markets where Bada is sold.

On the flip side the more entrenched Bada gets the harder it will be for WP to invade those markets. Another "also-ran" opportunity for Microsoft?

In the end if Tango isn't successful in battling Bada I surely hope Microsoft's board dumps Ballmer. When the Kin went down in flames it was pretty clear they expected Ballmer to get WP right. So far that hasn't happened (sales-wise). If the Nokia angle plus Tango's reach doesn't show a serious uptake in WP sales I don't see how Ballmer and crew can say WP is a success.
