Ask her if she's lost some weight when she tries to ask about the phone. Women love it when you say that. Half an hour later after discussing about will power, diet, and hating that skinny b!tch at the gym who's always at the front of the cardio class, she'll probably forgets about the phone
@Maddus Mattus: Unless you're using new features, you won't have to port it; the Marketplace will port it for you! ![]()
Herbie
@Dr Herbie, he needs tap to share the video feature
@Dr Herbie: Nah, I'm more of a File -> New -> Project kinda guy ![]()
@fabian: tell her to quit picking on her brother or your going to call mom! ![]()

When she calls me tomorrow demanding an explanation for, why the 700 USD phone i adviced her buy two month ago, allready is obsolete and most likely wont see any more new apps.
That is why you should read the people that are impartial on Channel 9. I hardly contribute now because for the most part you are getting advice from MSFT shareholders or people that think with their heart, rather than head.
I can point to any number of threads where people were derided for being anti-Microsoft including comments like "Only a fool would buy a Lumia 900 phone now. If you have one, take it back." article available here.
People can continue with their pure sycophancy toward mistakes being made at Microsoft, I am now running a proper update to my Android in Ice Cream Sandwich, and my predictions about Windows 8 are being echoed by some bigwigs I am dealing with.
My advice to you is to avoid Windows Phone for the next couple of releases at least, until Microsoft commit to something and stick to it. That is why they are going to find it an uphill struggle with both their new OS and Phones, people have had enough.
Thank you for you great advices
I have spoken with her and told me it didn't matter that much.
Her husband, on the otherhand, is not that impressed with the whole situation tough. I think some bad marketing will come out of his mouth next time he talks smart phones with his friends ...
@vesuvius: I would still chose a Lumia 900 if my contract was up for renewal today,.
It's sleek, it's fast and I don't want another phone with an empty marketplace (or another american marketplace bound live id).
When the Lumia 900 is up for renewal, I would buy a Lumia on WP8. Nicely filled marketplace, 2 rom updates later solving battery and wifi issues.
New does not equal better, per definition.
My WP7 phone contract comes to an end in October/November, but I bought the phone outright at the start (it was cheaper over the course of the whole contract) so I won't be offered any kind of automatic upgrade. I am undecided if I will ditch my current phone and go for a new WP8 one, or just keep what I've got. It will probably come down to whether I decide I want to write WP8 apps or not, rather than my usage as a 'normal' (non-developer) user.

@Dr Herbie: I'm of the same opinion. I bought my LG Quantum outright and while it does crash occasionally, it does what I need it to. If I see a good deal on a WP8 phone next year, I'll think about upgrading, but right now there is no "must-have" feature on WP8 that makes me think my current phone is junk.
With that said, if I was in the market for a phone any time after the Apollo rumors started taking shape, I would have held off and stuck with my old phone.
you can sell the phone and use that as a lil down payment for WP8... my contract is up in Nov too25 minutes ago, Dr Herbie wrote

I am due for renewal now, and waited and waited for a Windows Phone worth getting, putting off an iPhone which I won't get as I have an iPad, hence the frustration.

LOL. "Love the One you're With"...
That becomes problematic if they're ever in the same room at the same time though....
