I got that message when I tried to create the boot disk as a VHD. When I changed that to the default, everything worked.
I am just booting from the DVD and trying to install.
at first i thought it did not like my USB flash drive i used so then i went to my desktop and burned a DVD and get the same message.
it will browse the files on the DVD so it has a driver for the DVD and the laptop only has one DVD drive.
I have searched and some folks with windows 7 getting this message had a bad iso / burn.
but my burn passed the verify .... may have to try a new download later.
I have the same problem with my tx2.
Tried to install from USB-stick but still got the same problem =(

Finally got it working, did the install from within Windows 7.
Hope you also will get it working cause it awesome =)
Touch works put tapping doesn't register, haven't installed any drivers yet so I hope that will solve it.

have to check tonight, possible:
1) bad download - check iso
2) disk - make sure i use a dual layer disk.
I haven't been able to install the touch drivers, it works ok out of the box but multitouch doesn't work well and tap (click) doesn't seem to trigger (as I mentioned before).
I found an italian site that has been in contact with n-trig
http://www.windows8italia.com/2011/06/n-trig-non-aggiornera-i-driver-dei.html
and they bacically say they won't make drivers for the TX2, I have mailed them in hope that they will reconsider.
my iso was bad.... checked the hash just now.... download a new copy and see if it passes.
I have the same problem ... I am using bootable USB drive and trying to install on ViewSonic ViewPad 10, currently running Windows 7. Checked the ISO image hash, everything is OK. The installer complains there is no CD/DVD driver available and quits. I cannot really start from within Windows 7, because the tablet only has like 2 gigs free, so the installer says the machine does not meet the requirements. If I boot from USB, it asks for CD/DVD driver. I thought tablets don't need that...
Booting from cd/dvd, I get the driver error that there is no cd/dvd driver. browse to current installs system directories to see if it wants current from there. No, it pulls up a list of drivers for the on-board wlan mini-card. So I took off the card, retry, same error.
I've downloaded the image 5 times. each time it gets to 860mb and stops. I burned that to a dvd and it boots. Redownloading again to try to get the whole thing, maybe that's the issue?.. dunno
I have written a short blog post about how to install Windows 8 on a HP TouchSmart TX2.
I don't have a solution for the cd/dvd problem other than installing from a previously installed Windows 7.

i downloaded a good iso, then i googled for the download link for the utulity app on the microsoft store. it's a free download and it will put an iso on a usb thumb drive it makes it bootable.
then i took that to the laptop and made sure that in the TX bios the usb / floppy boot was enabled.
then i booted off the thumb drive.
worked perfectly.
time to copy the files and format the drive was about 8 minutes.
then about 4-6 minutes for windows to finish and go to the start screen / ask for a username and password to be entered.
thouch is not right but the stylus works ok.
@figuerres:Try my instructions in the blog post, then you will get the touch working properly.
@ Jimmy_Engstrom: Installing from whitin Win7 did not work for me (at least on a tablet). My ViewPad meets all of the install requirements, except for the 16 GB of free space - it's entire disk is 16 GB, so with Win7 installed, it only has like 3-4 gigs of free space)... I am not sure what the reason is, but if I run the installer from within Win7, I get an error: Something happened (?!?!) determining if your PC can run Windows.... No hint of what actually happened or whether it can or can't be installed.
If I try to boot, I get the No CD/DVD driver error... Any other way? Bootable DOS or something?

might be a case of you have to wait for a later build to fix some driver issues.
I had this issue when I made a bootable USB key manually. Using the WUDT from Codeplex seemed to resolve it.
This is exactly what I used but no luck - still asks for those drivers.
