For date ranges you'd type "date:01.02.09..21.03.09" (without quotes)

I thought wildcard characters worked in search. I'm not on a Windows 7 PC right now but I'll check when I get home.

To search for more than one thing, you can use boolean operators. So as above, "*.xxx OR *.yyy OR *.zzz"

Thank you very much for your help!
Advanced Search works! But not as I expected ...
So far it seems to me not convenient.
The best solution would be the existence of a separate dialog box, advanced search.
And we could then forget about the symbols *. ; .. etc.
If the Windows Search 4.0 will be adapted for Windows7, perhaps this will solve the problem!
