I'm able to sign out of other Live properties, such as msn.ca. I've deleted all the temporary internet files and cookies and browser history ... disabled messenger addins and it's not running ... how the heck am I still signed in? ![]()

Try creating another hotmail account, and signing in with that

I've already tried that. I'm trying to sign in with my Windows 8 account.

How does Channel9 track users ... I cleared my cache and cookies ... yet still ... logged in. It's strange. It just started happening today and I can't figure out why.

I finally disabled cookies, and was able to sign out. This seems to be new behaviour. The behaviour is duplicated if I re-enable cookies and try to sign out. It seems my ip address is used when a new cookie is created. Sign out should actually work ... seems like a bug to me. What if I'm sharing a PC and need to sign out and can't? Is it just me?

That's a bit worrying. IP addresses do not have a 1-1 correspondence with users. If I'm in a hotel can anyone else in the hotel log in as me without my password? How about some of the university students we have at C9? They'll have only a few IP addresses between them...

@evildictaitor: We don't use your IP address for anything. We *do* store cookies, but we do so by just asking the Live ID DLLs to write the cookies out for us (it is a method on the library). In the past we've seen this happening because of the Live ID Helper 'add-in' in Internet Explorer, but that may not be what is happening here.

I'm able to sign out today again, after disabling every "bing", "seaport", "communicator", "lync", "messenger", "live" addin and service on my machine. Manual start wasn't enough for services. I will eventually reenable some of them and see if it reintroduces the behaviour.

Argh ... I spoke too soon. It doesn't actually sign me out. I looked like it. Because it says at first that it did, whereas yesterday it just redirected me to channel9.msdn.com right away. When I try to sign out the second time you can see that there are two services I can't sign out of:
Of course, I did try to clear all of my cookies and close all browser windows ... it doesn't work.

The cause of this is the "Windows Live Multi Store Gateway". Whatever that is, it's installed with Live Essentials, I guess. I checked if it's a component that can be uninstalled from Live Essentials, but it's not listed anywhere. What is this thing, and why does it suck so bad?
-
Having Googled "windows live multi store gateway" all the results seem fairly recent... have you used your LiveID on something recently released? For instance Win8 or the Skydrive app?
("Store" as in storage could be logically associate with either of those...)

Channel 9 is pure *. And my footie calls are rubbish, I admit. The term centre-3/4 went out with Rex mossop i realise.I don't like the fact that channel 9 uses an editorial headline like 'inglis in the dark' on their home page. Racist wankers we are. I hope gina rheinhart buys us instead of channel 10 and then sacks me and the rest of the team- except fattie vautin cause I think he's funny 'n that. Can dave gyngell confirm that I'm calling the car parking at the Olympics cause I'm not good at much else. Oops....I think I did a naughtie in my nappy. Mother!
