Why is the home page so slow?

After I click my link to C9 home page, I have to wait like 8 seconds before the page is responded. I don't see why it is this slow. What is going on? Does LiveID has anything to do with this? But, you know, FB ID is seemless and ultra fast, I don't see how LiveID would be the reason as well. Either way, please fix the site. It is starting to become an big issue because it is getting slower by the days.

Just simply click on the C9 Guy from this thread, the home page took me at least 3 seconds. And click back here, and retry, still very slow.

@magicalclick: 8-9 seconds for me, too. North Central US server.

Same from Europe, and often the site even times out. This has been the case since the site moved to Azure..

@Duncanma: I ran the profiler in Firebug (no IE9 on XP here at work). Nothing really stood out as a slowdown.

It doesn't seem like a JS issue; it's more like a server issue since nothing is displayed for 7-10s and then the whole page pops up. It's like this in both FF and IE8.

@Duncanma: Here is an IE9 profiler run of clicking on the Channel 9 logo in the top left of this page to bring up the home page and then stopping the profiler when the video preview pane moves to the 2nd video.
