Glass And Transparency

Hi!

I created a simple Demo to show how one can create a transparent form, without that annoying click through thing!

You can use a LinearGradientBrush and make a nice Windows sidebar copycat!

You can also create a glass region, (non-rectangular if you wish), with, again a LinearGradientBrush.

Requirements: A version of Windows Vista that allows for the Aero theme -> Composition.

I want to inform you that your code does not work on Vista x64.

This is because of the following line of code in the GlassForm.ActiveFormEvent method:

if (IsOnGlass(m.LParam.ToInt32()) && m.Msg == VistaApi.Click && m.Result.ToInt32() == VistaApi.ClientArea)

Because of the order of the conditional checks, it tries to convert LParam to an Int32 for every message. For many messages, LParam is a pointer, and as such, will exceed Int32.MaxValue on a 64 bit system causing a System.OverflowException.

Making the m.Msg == VistaApi.Click check the first check fixes this bug.
