Hello 9ers,
i have a question about the .net convert functionality.
i looks like the parsing of a string to a double in our program is culture specific, meaning that the casting will work on, say, the de-de culture, but not the en-US culture, because the notation of the numbers is different (commas and dots are reversed).
example: 4,000
means four in de-DE, but four thousand in en-US
so
convert.todouble("40,00") will give u 4000 in en-US
convert.todouble("40,00") yields 40 in de-DE
since this application we're working on depends heavily on math and coordinate systems, it's kindof tricky to deal with cultures as well.
am i missing something here???
bottom line is that i need to rely on 40,00 being 40 no matter the current culture.
any help is greatly appreciated!!!
