Okay, so now that I have the MS-DOS 6.22 on hands, and the first thing I did was to check that if the floppy disks were still readable. Luckily, they were just fine!! So, the second thing I did was to copy all those 4 disks to my computer for backup, you
know, these days, this kind of ancient stuff is hard to find.
So, after copying all of the data on my computer, I noticed that there is a QBASIC.exe in it, so I clicked it, and a dos prompt showed up. That means, it works!!
I wonder if the QBASIC is the same version of the eariler Bill Gates-produced version of MS-BASIC?
What is the difference between MS-BASIC and QBASIC which is included in DOS for free?

There were several versions of BASIC back in the DOS days, BasicA followed up by GW-BASIC, then finally QBasic (or QuickBasic the commercial version). I programmed on them all, those were good days. Say, I've got a copy of DOS 1.25 on 5.25" and 8" floppies! I even have a red box copy of Dos 3.3 still in the plastic shrinkwrap!

My fondest DOS memory was that of DOS 5.0, I'm pretty sure this release added a bunch of new memory-management features that were essential for me to be able to play Falcon 3.0 on my 486DX2-66!
I also believe that the 5.0 release introduced QBASIC. Does the DOS 6.22 box advertise the DriveSpace compression features?? -
QBASIC is well improved. It doesn't require line numbers and it has a nice editing environment. But the best feature is Gorillas.

Well, do you still have the DOS 5.0 with you? I lost it long time ago which was accompanied with my ATS 386 20MHz notebook computer.
Now I try to run the 6.22 on my 386, but it won't run on it. That notebook was very expansive back then, and now....without an OS, it is a piece of junk now.
DOS 5.0 was my first version of DOS, but I was very young back then, I only played games on it, not until later I that I finally understood memory management in DOS 6.22
But when it comes to memory management in programming, it is another story. I'm still struggling with pointers!! Can you believe it??
