When I hit File->New Project, pick any type of project, click ok. Down in the left hand corner of VS2008 I get an error: "Creating project '____'... project creation failed.
I tried repairing my installation of VS 2008 via setup. No Luck. Anyone gotten this issue before/been able to resolve it?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet? I hate to suggest that since it takes a while -- I just did twice this past weekend -- but it sounds like you have tried a few things already.

Be sure and go over the readme file on the installation disk first. Two main points are; be sure to uninstall beta 2, and if you uninstall VS 2005 you might need to modify some registry entries.
Also, if using Vista or Server 2008, then be sure you’re running as administrator. -
This is a clean machine (meaning beta 2 hasn't touched it). I also have VS 2003, 2005, 2008. I am going for a full uninstall reinstall of 2008. Running of Windows XP.

Sorry to reply to an old thread, but this problem still exists.odujosh said:This is a clean machine (meaning beta 2 hasn't touched it). I also have VS 2003, 2005, 2008. I am going for a full uninstall reinstall of 2008. Running of Windows XP.
I have Vista Ultimate and installed VS2008 Dev Edition. I couldn't create any solution until I ran a subinacl script and that fixed all but C++. The subinacl fixed a different problem, but I feel it is probably related to this project creation failure.
Very frustrating.
