Excel 2007 - Pictures in Published PDF/XPS Files

I have a bit of a weird situation here. I have an Excel 2007 spreadsheet that has a few hundred jpg images inside of it. When I try to publish it as a pdf or an xps file (doesn't matter which), Excel 2007 keeps on oddly doubling the size of the images and moving them over some from where they are supposed to be, obscuring the rest of the data that goes along with them.

Since it happens with both file formats identically, I'm ruling out it being a bug in the respective reader programs.

Has anyone had any success with exporting data like this from Excel? Is there some trick I can do to force it to leave the picture's position and size alone when exporting?

I am suddenly experiencing the same problem with a single image in an Excel 2007 sheet - when published to PDF or XPS, the image location in the published pdf/xps document is different from its position in the work sheet, obscuring the contents of cells behind it. (The image size seems unchanged though.)

Less than a month ago this was NOT a problem. The only major change to my environment is that I have upgraded my Office 2007 installation to SP2 - this may possibly be the culprit?
