I've got a problem with Windows Vista. I've got a 7.1 speaker system attached and when I play music (doesn't matter which media player) only the front 2 speakers are used. Why can't I get music from all my speakers?

Another problem:

I have a NAS on the network and some directories on it are password protected. With Windows 7 (and XP) I try to access the folder and I get a username/password dialog but the NAS never accepts it. I think this is because Windows adds the pc name to the username so this becomes: desktop-pc\ZippyV. Is there a way to prevent Windows from doing this? It works okay on Mac OSX.

That's because Vista/7 have stricter requirements on the use of NTLMv2 and SMB signing. Fixing it requires tweaking a few things in the Group Policy Editor/Registry. I can't remember the details but googling for disabling these will no doubt flag them up.

Because your monitor driver (usually picked up from Windows Update) installed a colour profile, and Photo Gallery is obeying it. Most monitors are too cold (too blue) by themselves. The colour profile compensates for that and gives you a more natural colour representation. But because you're used to the regular tone of your monitor, this more natural colour ends up looking yellow by comparison.
