XP-SP2 and SP3 Missing Hibernate Selection
I have reinstalled XP-SP2 and updated it with XP-SP3.
I notice that the "Hibernate" selection on shut-down
has disappeared and requires pressing the "shift" key
to activate the hidden control button.
The KB-893056 hotfix for SP2 has been integrated into the SP3 install.
The registry edit is not part of the SP3 install.
The shut-down options currently show
- StandBy
- Restart
- Shut Down
The hot-fix options should show
- Hibernate
- StandBy
- Restart
- Shut Down
KB-893056 documents a registry edit, but it is not
working on my XP-SP3 machine. Nothing changes - the
"Hibernate" option is not restored to view.
Registry:
HKLM/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Windows/System/Shutdown
ShowHibernateButton (DWORD) = 1
Any additional help would be appreciated.
