Pin ScrumWorks to the Taskbar

I use a java applet called [ScrumWorks] to track my scrum tasks. When I try to pin the scrumworks.jnlp file to the taskbar on Windows-7, it creates an icon. But when I click that icon it tries to run java. I end up having to right click the icon and then left click the scrumworks.jnlp in the popup.

Why am I being punished to an extra click? I just want to pin the scrumworks.jnlp to the taskbar and click once to run it.

Is there a workaround? Is there a special command to add commands and pin them to the taskbar?

I don't use Windows 7 day-to-day, but my understanding is when you drag an item to the taskbar it creates a new shortcut icon for you and so resets all the specific arguments and other stuff needed to launch it correctly.

If you open this directory:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User pinned\Taskbar

...and then paste a normal *.lnk file to your *.jnlp file (or even place the jnlp file in there directly) then that should work.

It's weird that some stuff can't be pinned there. ( and annoying ). I have created a new folder ( taskband ) and I put such shortcuts ( classic shortcuts ) in there. You know, kind'a like the quick launch.

I'd also like to take this moment to plug FreeLaunchBar, it it's bigger brother, TrueLaunchBar. It's enabled me to have better-than-jumplist style behaviour since 2006. It's a simple lightweight shell extension.

oooooh boy, those are nice apps! I'll give them both a try. Can't believe I never seen those before.
