I have finally given up and am hoping someone around here has run into this and can help. I installed the beta2 of sql server and then vs but with the vs install I was getting some errors here and there but it still installed. Everytime I tried a template
it would throw an error with a GUID so I decided to uninstall everything.
Everything uninstalled except the msdn library for beta 2. I get a "Fatal error during installation". I am really not concerned with getting the beta 2 reinstalled I am just giving the steps I took.
So with everything uninstalled except msdn I downloaded wse2.0 and tried to install. When it installed it threw an error and said it required 1.1 (which is installed). So I thought maybe 2.0 junked up some things and I would uninstall reinstall 1.1. And here
we have my problem. I can not resintall 1.1. I get a few "Internal error 2908" followed by a guid and then a Error 1935 installation of assembLy cscompmgd, Versions 7.0.5000.....
So does anyone know of a way to completly clear out a machine and registry of .net?

Format.

Look for the windows installer clean-up tool on msdn downloads.

There are a couple versions of cleanup tools available that might help here.
For VS 2005 beta products, you can try the cleanup tool at http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/vs2005_beta_cleanup_tool.zip
For the .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1, you can try the cleanup tool at http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip. For this tool please read the blog post at http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/08/406671.aspx and take note of the instructions and caveats.
Hope this helps.... -
