Which wiki page?

Unfortunately, most all solutions to Wiki abuse strike at the heart of what makes a good Wiki system good.
I've long evangelized "John's Law of Big People" -- which states "If we're all big people, we should just trust and expect each other to behave like big people." It fails in the same way Wiki does.
At least the good outweighs the bad. (And the bad can be awfully annoying sometimes.)

So fix it.

I feel like I'm reading spam in this thread.

Perhaps, you should also update this entry:

Wiki spam: Graffiti on a virtual brick wall.
How many research papers would cite a wiki entry in a bibliography, though? And actually be taken seriously?

Hey its not spam..........its a serious issue if something crapy comes on wiki... coz atleast people like me get lots of info. Infcat the subject line given by me was not good. Now wiki is updated and corrected....... Thanks , A.

I referenced wikipedia for various pieces of my coursework and the teacher accepted them.
...I guess its okay provided you save a backup of the wiki instance you were referring to.

The answer that Wiki proponents use is: "It's just as easy to fix as it is to break, so it won't stay broken for long. Instead of going to an online forum and complaining about it, you should have fixed the page."
Most Wikis will preserve older revisions of the page. If you cite it in some kind of article or academic paper, make sure you also include the revision of the Wiki page you used.
On top of that, it's probably a good idea to save a copy of the page (print to PDF works well for this). You can't be sure just how many old revisions of pages the Wiki will remember.
Another big concern for Wiki's is the "opinionated" information that makes it into the Wiki. With non-technical subjects in Wikipedia (especially political ones), you'll find a certain level of "bias" in the articles.
It doesn't mean that Wikipedia is completely untrustable. It just means you have to use some judgement when reading it.That said, I've been having a lot of success with a Wiki on our internal company network for maintaining documentation.

The Los Angeles Times just ended an experiment using a wiki for online editorials (I picked this up from Scoble's blog)
A good point made was that wikis are about collabaration. Wikis don't handle controversy well. -
Here's another link to the above story
