Getting started with C#. What are the 10 first things that you would ask a trainee to do?

Hello guys - I am looking to get started with some c# stuff. I am looking for ideas / mentors.

If C# is not the first programming language you learnt, my advice would be to attempt rewrite one or two programs you've written in the past in C#. This will give you a hint on what are important and what you need to ask. But it's probably more than 10 things.

@Brammy: Software development typically doesn't have "trainees". I would expect applicants to have training in object oriented development, software architecture and design, data structures, SQL databases, and technical writing.
For new employees, I would give them small tasks to get them started and to slowly introduce them to the systems they'll be maintaining.

@spivonious:Thank you for that - it is interesting that software development does not have trainees. I have been trying to get help to learn the language for some time and have not been able to find a mentor that will treat me as a trainee. There is so much to learn and as yet I have been unable to find a publication that delivers what I want.

@Brammy: If you want to get into software development, school is the first step. Most places (at least in the U.S.) will throw your resume in the trash if there is no degree or years of experience.
