Live tile animation in Windows Phone 7.1 Mango challenge

Hi

My idea for a WP7.1 Mango app requires something like a live tile showing approximately 10 images with 0,5 seconds delay between them, with 10 seconds in between repetitions, similar like an animated gif.

Updating the tile from a ScheduledTaskAgent doesn't seem to work at least in the emulator, the tiles are updated 10 times but only the first and last image from the tile updates are essentially displayed, the others tile updates are somehow skipped (optimized?). I also notice some refreshing issues where the tile briefly flickers with a red square.

Is this kind of animation too much to ask from Mango, anyone managed to get this working?

I think what you want to do can be considered abuse,..

That's why I think you only see the first and the last image,..

Maybe you are trying to do some animation thing? Animated GIF an option?

The taskagent certainly would drain the battery! I'm affraid Gif's not supported on the WP7.1 managed side. Does work on IE9 though... It's really a shame, as animated Gif is exactly the effect I want to achieve.

Discovered and reported some other issues with WriteableBitmap and visuals, that is ruining another idea for dynamic tile generation.

I've come to the point of limiting the ambitions and just keep things plain and easy until the next release.
