USB Device Access via WinUSB in Metro Style Apps

Does anybody know, wether it will be possible to access USB devices from Windows 8 Metro Style Apps?

I develop software for various measurement devices and would love to offer metro apps on new tablets, but there won't be custom drivers available. So it looks like the new WinUSB will be nice option. But I haven't found any statement availability of WinUSB to WinRT.

Depends what you mean by "access USB". You'll be able to access removable drives if you have the appropriate ACLs to read/write there. You won't be able to send arbitrary USB commands to and from the USB from a low-integrity Metro app since you would be able to do bad things like turn on webcams or print documents if you could do that.

You probably want to look into Metro Style device apps, which provide a way for Metro apps to be associated with custom hardware.
