Why have I gotten so many "reminders" for birthdays that "occurred" on Jan. 1?

On the last day of 2011, I got bajillions of "reminders" of birthday notices for about half of all of my contacts, all on January 1. That can NOT be, and especially since I'm one of those whose "birthday reminder" was for January 1. My birthday is in February; not January. What makes this especially irksome is they all hit my Windows Phone, too. Do you have any idea how irritating it is to get bajillions of bogus reminders, on your phone, and having to press the Dismiss button over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again?

I got into my Contacts in Outlook 2010, and saw that those contacts don't have any birthday at all in them. And that's because I don't know what their birthdays are (of course I know my own, but I don't need to put that into my Contact listing, do I?) To me, putting nothing into a birthday means "I really don't know what their birthday is". It does NOT mean "Make all contacts with no birthday, January 1, and remind me of all of them at once." How in heck do I stop this stupid behavior so it never does this again?

Must be an issue with Oultook 2010. I have a windows phone and lots of contacts (both from Hotmail, Facebook, and LinkedIn) with no birthday entries and I got zero reminders on January 1st.

I've never seen that, and I'm using Outlook 2010 (don't have a Windows Phone, though). Maybe an issue with birthdays getting set incorrectly when syncing somehow?

It happened to me as well (on my phone only), so you're not alone here. Don't know the cause and don't care enough to try and figure it out, but if someone knows why I'd love to keep it from happening again.

No sign of that here, but I haven't used Outlook 2010, only WLM and Hotmail/GMail directly. Have you ever used anything else to access your mail/contacts? I'm wondering if something else possibly inserted some faulty birthday info at some point?

I can't think of any.  It's strange, though.  I've double checked some of my contacts information in Outlook 2010 and Windows Live Mail, and they're fine.  I don't know about Facebook, though.  Perhaps this info came through their contact information.  I'll take a few and check....

.... OK, I've just checked.  Of all of my contacts that I got a notice of as having a birthday on January 1, only 4 of them are friends of mine on Facebook.  All of them have specified their date of birth, and none of them are January 1.  So, it didn't come from Facebook, either.

I don't know if this helps but turn off the birthday calendar in the calendar's app. Might stop them.
